Randy HIll, President of APT Advanced Trailer & Equipment, announces that APT explores additional applications for the peanut drying trailer. Currently Advanced drying trailers are being tested for use in the biofuel and biomass industries. APT announced that they are currently testing trailers in Savanna, Georgia for the wood chip industry and at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas for drying manure to use in the process of producing methane gas.
Biofuel is defined as solid, liquid or gas fuel derived from recently dead biological material and is distinguished from fossil fuels, which are derived from long dead biological material. Theoretically, biofuels can be produced from any (biological) carbon source; although, the most common sources are photosynthetic plants.
Biomass refers to living and recently dead biological material that can be used as fuel or for industrial production. Most commonly, biomass refers to plant matter grown to generate electricity or produce biofuel, but it also includes plant or animal matter used for production of fibers, chemicals or heat. Biomass may also include biodegradable wastes that can be burnt as fuel. It excludes organic material which has been transformed by geological processes into substances such as coal or petroleum.
