Casey Roderick, Randy Hill Racing Set For Lucas Oil Raceway Showdown

CLERMONT, Indiana (July 25, 2011) – - Even though they are not a full-time team in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and even though they’ve only been teamed up for two races so far, Casey Roderick, Jeff Spraker and the Randy Hill Racing (RHR) team have been tapped as a sleeper for Thursday night’s Ansell Protective Gloves 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) at Indianapolis.

Recording a very respectable 13th place finish even after encountering a flat tire in their ARCA Racing Series debut at Iowa Speedway two weeks ago, Roderick and Spraker gelled well together thus leaving the RHR team with a trail of confidence entering the 12th race of the season.

“I’m looking forward to Lucas Oil Raceway this week,” said Roderick, who has one ARCA Racing Series victory to his credit. “We’ve been working hard on our No. 08 Randy Hill Racing Chevrolet Impala since we returned from Iowa. We’ve gone over the car with a fine tooth comb, so I’m pretty pumped.”

Set to make his ninth career ARCA Racing Series start on Thursday night, the Lawrenceville, Georgia native is eager to return to victory lane. Last year at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the avid late model driver stunned the competition by winning the race after starting last as a result of an engine failure in practice. Returning to victory lane has been on Roderick’s radar since the announcement of him driving for Randy Hill Racing.

“I really think we have the equipment to contend for top-fives and wins,” added Roderick, driver of the No. 08 Randy Hill Racing Chevrolet Impala. “We proved that by practicing second at Iowa Speedway. Also, to have someone creditable like Jeff Spraker on top of the box is an added bonus. Iowa was our first race together and I really couldn’t ask for anything more. I told him what the car was doing and he adjusted it and made it better. If not for the flat tire, we would have been in the top-10 for sure.”

While aiming to be the first ARCA driver to enter victory lane at LOR in 25 years, Roderick knows that it will take teamwork and determination to make it a reality. “It’s great for ARCA to be coming back to Lucas Oil Raceway. It’s such a unique short track and everyone that I talked to has been thrilled to see it on the schedule. It definitely would be gratifying to re-ignite the ARCA records book with our own checkered flag.”

For the veteran Spraker, he is impressed with the sheer devotion that Roderick has displayed.

“I was told a lot of great things about Casey before I had the chance to work with him. Now, I know why,” Spraker commented. “He wants to go fast and that’s a crucial piece to the puzzle. But we’re working on some of the other fundamentals that will make him a better driver in the long run. I think we can go to LOR this week and improve on Iowa and show everyone how real of a deal this is.”

For Randy Hill, a Texas Rancher, Inventor and Serial Entrepreneur returning to the schedule on the heels of a commendable run at Iowa has him looking forward to another short track showdown.

“I’m having a blast,” said Hill. “Casey (Roderick), Jeff (Spraker) and the entire team has really done a magnificent job prepping the cars at the shop and coming to the track ready to handle business. We’re all encouraged by the run at Iowa and we know that we’re capable of much more. We’re shooting for the win.”

Entering LOR, Roderick will make his ninth career ARCA start on Thursday night. In his previous eight outings, Roderick has scored one win (New Jersey Motorsports Park), two top-fives and three top-10s. He also hoisted a pole in his road racing debut at Palm Beach (Fla.) International Raceway in February 2010.

The Ansell Protective Gloves 200 (200 laps / 137 miles) is the 12th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The eighth ever ARCA race at Lucas Oil Raceway is a one-day show. Practice begins Thursday, July 28 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated for later in the day set to begin at 4:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 7:00 p.m. The event will air live on SPEED.
